Cream of Tartar
Cream of tartar is a white powder that can be used to increase the heat tolerance and volume of egg whites for meringue, or reduce discoloration in boiled vegetables. When combined with acidic substances such as white vinegar or lemon juice, it becomes an effective cleaning agent for metals such as brass, aluminum or copper.
